2nd Team Match Report
Hi all here is my report a week late I know but hey ho, form our match versus our threes and our team sheet for this Saturday, weather permitting.
This Saturday we meet at NORTH KESTEVEN at nine am please. Our push back is at eleven at Spalding against their second team. This is a big game, so can we all bring our A game please, our best running legs, our most enthusiastic attitudes and our best tackling sticks. Needless to say our shooting prowess needs to be packed first!!!!
Now the let me tell a quick story. Two weeks ago, we had a lot to prove, having been beaten by our third team on the first run out, the only team to beat us thus far this year. Here was a record to set straight, and hopefully a good game to be had. Sally had a good team out, but so did we.
The game started on a crisp day at Yarborough, and it wasn’t long before we started to play our hockey, our fast pace and our attacking play was flowing freely. For the first fifteen minutes or so we kept nice and wide and passed the ball around beautifully. It was around this time that we scored our first goal, and settled to our own play even more. By half time we were up two nil and we’re playing some very nice hockey, most of the possession was ours and when we lost the ball it was clear that we wanted the ball more and won it back quickly. We lost width which we must not do when we play Spalding this week. It is important to say that the threes were not playing badly, Charlotte has come on so well in a very short period of time in goal, but we were able to play the ball around sufficiently well to make it hard for the defence to keep out.
The second half started much the same, a little more possession for the threes but some lovely calm play, lots of movement of the ball, pulling it back and moving it round when forwards was not an option. This was much better than recent games, and a reminder of what we can do when we tie it all together. Our confidence grew throughout the second half and four more goals found their happy way into the net and onto our score sheet. Never again will we lose a league through lack of goal difference!!! Final score Twos six, Threes nil. A much better game in every way than the first time. Well done everybody. Honours even one game all!!!
Let us see another excellent performance in our game on Saturday, three of most tricky games coming up over the next four weekends, let’s really lift our standard to the work rate we became accustomed to last year, and remember how we really can play, scoring a lot but more importantly working hard for one another as a whole team. See you all on Saturday, Caz xx
3rd Team Match Report
Slow pitch. Slow start. Against the run of play they scored first. We quickly recovered and equalised through Caitlin. Unfortunately we allowed them to break through again and score. In the second half after encouraging words from Paul we dominated the play with lots of short corners and we equalised. The last short corner saw Sally slip the ball to Charlotte who made a first time hit into the goal. A well deserved win.
