Barry Barr Barry Barr

I am very sad to report the passing of our former club stalwart both at Club and County level, Barry Barr.

Barry was an inspiration to us all having originally joined Linoln Hockey Club from Alford & District HC. He was our Team Secretary for many years in the 1970s and Chairman, became an umpire when he retired from playing but, most importantly, ran the Lincolnshire Schools & Youth Hockey as secretary for many years.

Many of our players now playing hockey in Lincolnshire and throughout England, owe their success to this great man. He will be sadly missed by us all. The man was a legend.

Our sympathies to Marjorie and all her family at this very sad time.

Update, Wednesday the 3rd of August 2016

Barry’s funeral is on Wednesday August 17th, 12noon at Great Carlton Church, 5 miles South-East from Louth and near to Gayton Le Wold where he had lived in recent years.

Lincoln Hockey Club and now, Lindum Hockey Club, have much to thank this great man for, as have the Lincolnshire Hockey Association and many players from our county for over 50 years. The end of an era and a legendary true gent. As Barry once advised us all he was a “Poacher turned Gamekeeper”! God bless him.

The country house hotel in Lincoln, Washingborough Hall is the perfect luxury hotel destination for those seeking places to stay in Lincolnshire and Lincoln.
