Child Welfare at Lindum Hockey Club
Monday, 5th of December 2016
A message from Lindum Hockey Club’s Welfare Officer, John Sisman
Everyone will be aware of the recent news regarding offences made against children in the football world. We wanted to make sure that all of our families feel reassured that the club is doing everything that it can to protect the many young people who are such an important part of Lindum Hockey Club.
All of the club’s policies are in line with England Hockey and we strive to go above and beyond their recommendations. For those attending Saturday morning junior training, we have ensured that all of our adult volunteers, coaches and team managers have a fully enhanced DBS. They are also all asked to pass safeguarding courses that meet England Hockey requirements.
Alongside this, we ensure that our adult ratios mean that children are never left alone with a single coach. Coaches are also not permitted to transport any children on their own.
On Tuesdays and Thursdays the environment is slightly more adult orientated but we still have the same expectations in place regarding safeguarding. Each year we remind all of our adult club members of their responsibility with safeguarding.
The Lindum continues to be a very safe place for children to take part in sport. We take the safety and welfare of our children very seriously. If you have any concerns John Sisman is our welfare officer and he can be contacted at [email protected] or on 07970508679.
