This Weekend’s Hockey (10th / 11th of Sep, 2022)
Friday, 9th of September 2022
Following the sad news of the passing of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, a club statement on the plans for the coming weekend
Lindum Hockey Club is deeply saddened by the death of Queen Elizabeth II, and offer our sincerest condolences to the whole Royal Family.
While the upcoming few weeks mark the beginning of the 2022-23 hockey season, events beyond the sport may understandably impact upon the club’s activities.
Saturday’s Hockey
We plan to go ahead with both Junior Training and our Club Day tomorrow as planned, however at Club Day there will be a two minutes’ silence as a mark of respect before we start the games.
It has also been suggested that the use of black armbands, or black ribbons, be worn as a mark of respect.
Any further changes to the club’s upcoming activities will be announced closer to the time, when there is further clarity regarding the mourning period.
Please note that the club’s decisions at this time are taken with the guidance in mind, coming from England Hockey and the UK Government. As per this guidance, following this announcement we will be honouring the motion that all non-essential posts on social media channels and the websites be paused during the period of mourning.
We are deeply saddened to hear of the passing of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, and offer our condolences to the Royal Family at the difficult time.
