EH Masters Over 50s Cup v Grimsby (Away)
It was clear from the start that Lincoln would dominate this game, as most of their players are still playing active hockey, whereas Grimsby had some very useful “retired” players, but could not create many openings. Lincoln played the controlled, much better passing, hockey than their hosts and Tony Wing scored two, as did England Masters star Billy Marwaha, and so did Andy Wright, bringing off a resounding victory 6 – 0 to Lincoln. The game was a little marred by some Imps players getting involved about some of the Grimsby tackling, and this must be sorted out before our second round match v Lakelanders (from Cumbria) on the 2nd of December at Yarborough (time to be advised). Always a grudge game v Grimsby, but all indifferences were put to one side in the bar afterwards and a great tea – Bangers, Chips and Beans + Bread & Butter plus second helpings! The Masters jugganaut rolls on for the start of another season and, hopefully, this year they can progress a lot further in the national competition for “Old G*ts”and “Grumpy Old Men”!
