Lincoln Hockey Club’s Veterans are out of the England Hockey Over 50s Cup competition, having fought through to the semi-finals of the competition following a 4-3 loss to Barford Tigers Mens Vintage this afternoon.

Having opened their account by beating Grimsby a crushing 6-0 back in November, the Veterans progressed through the knock-out competition by also winning against Lakelanders, Khalsa and West Wilts. Reaching the semi-finals alongside them were Barford Tigers, Canterbury and Harleston Magpies.

Lincoln travelled to Birmingham today to play Barford Tigers at their pitch. Despite being 4-1 down at one point Lincoln battled to try and and level the scoreline. A last minute short corner, with the score at 4-3, offered some hope but sadly didn’t provide the goal required by the final whistle.

In the competition’s other semi-final Canterbury beat Harleston Magpies 2-1, so a final of Canterbury v. Barford Tigers takes place on April the 21st.
