Lindum Pitch Update – August

At the beginning of July we reported that the Lindum were waiting on the final go-ahead from one of the funding sources for the new pitch that Lincoln Hockey Club will be referring to as home. This holding state, we are pleased to report, is no longer in place; the funding has been cleared and the build is now ready to go ahead.

Sadly the knock-on effect of the delay is that the building work will begin later than originally planned as the contractors have, understandably, rearranged their workloads around the delay. The new pitch is now not expected to be ready to play on until new year 2014. While this means that home games will continue to be played at Yarborough Leisure Centre for the first half of the new season, it is promising news that the project is definitely going ahead and work will begin during the next few days.

Jerry Newlove, of the Lindum, reported a couple of weeks ago that “the contract for the build of the new artificial grass pitch, floodlights and extra car parking was signed on Friday the 26th July. The start date is August the 19th with a completion date of December the 22nd.”

Meanwhile earlier today David Dawson of the Lindum Sports Association released the statement below, addressed to the organisations affiliated to them. The Lindum have been offered a grant of £49,500 from the Landfill Tax Biffa Award for the work on the changing rooms.
