Last Saturday morning saw the first session of the 2013-14 season’s Junior Training at the Yarborough Leisure Centre, Riseholme Road, Lincoln and main coaches Peter Rushmere and Tony Perrin were delighted with the attendance of nearly 70 youngsters from the Lincoln area. With many youngsters from the last few seasons unable to make the first session, Youth Development Officer, Tony Perrin, was delighted with the attendance. He said “As a club we have been contacted by many parents over the summer period asking when our junior sessions were going to start again and would it be possible for their child or even children to attend this season, such is the popularity of junior training at Lincoln Hockey Club”. We run the best junior training in the County and this is born out by the number of children who have come to our first session, such is our reputation within the county of Lincolnshire.

Being an England Hockey ClubsFirst club, which is the kite mark for hockey in England, and therefore reaching the ClubMark standard, we have proven that parent’s and guardian’s children are safe within the confines of our club. We have a Child Protection policy in place, safeguarding juniors in our care. We pride ourselves of the success that our juniors have achieved over many years of junior hockey within Lincolnshire. Many of our juniors have gone on to international hockey careers, and our leading light at present is the lovely Georgie Twigg of England and Great Britain, who started her hockey career as a Lincoln Junior player coached by Tony Perrin. “We started Georgie in her hockey career and are incredibly proud of the success she has achieved so far in her brilliant hockey career”, says Tony, “She is a wonderful ambassador of hockey in this country, and despite all her success, she still has the time to come and mix with our youngsters, as she did the Saturday before Christmas 2013, which was a special morning for all of us”.

Lincoln Hockey Club boasts a junior membership of over 100 youngsters, who receive specialist training every Saturday morning at Yarborough Leisure Centre from 9.00am to 11.00am. If you are a youngster who wants to give hockey a go, or maybe a youngster who has tried it at school and wants to progress further, then come along and join in. You will need shinguards to prevent receiving sore shins. Do not worry if you do not have a stick, as we provided them to start with.

Lincoln Hockey Club, the club that looks after its youngsters. See you soon. Your first session is free……but we are sure you will be back for more!
