Weekend Review, January the 28th & 29th

The last hockey-playing weekend of January 2014 raised some eyebrows in the results on offer to Lincoln Hockey Club. In a complete gender divide, all Ladies’ games were losses and all Mens’ games were wins. The Ladies’ 1s, it has to be said, endured a torrid weekend. They lost 9-0 away to Norwich on Saturday and then, travelling north on Sunday, they crashed out of the England Hockey Investec Womens Trophy with a 5-0 defeat to Harrogate. The Ladies 2s also lost 5-0 in their game to Long Sutton on Saturday.

The Mens 1s and 2s, meanwhile, both won 3-2 against City of York and Kingston Upon Hull respectively (the latter with 10 men after Matt Kandt decided that casualty was a better place for him after being struck on the head with the ball). The Mens 3s lost none of their appetite for winning in their week off last week by beating Huddersfield Dragons 10-1.

Could have been different if we’d have put more away today, or prevented the two going in.

Next Weekend, February the 1st

All senior teams are out in force next weekend and the seniors play on Sunday in Wakefield. Please note a change to the Mens 1st team game’s start time.
