Result: 6-4 win. Goals from M.White, C.Twigg, T.Pinder, N.White, T.White and R.Corbett
Roses started the game quickly and soon started to dominate early possession. A quick break away led to Roses first real chance at goal with Corbett being denied. More sustained pressure led to a Penalty corner, which was expertly dispatched by Mike White. Roses kept pressing and were soon rewarded when Charlie Twigg fired high in the net. Twigg could have a second but wastefully fired over the crossbar and over the fence from the top of the D. What soon followed was fifteen minutes of madness.
North Shields came into life and showed why they were joint top of the league and with two quick goals suddenly drew level. Things got bad from worse for Roses when North Shields took the lead. With seconds of the first half remaining they consolidated their lead.
Half Time score Lincoln Roses 2-4 North Shields
After a inspiring teams talk from Coach Corbett, Roses got the game started and kept the ball moving around nicely trying to search or a way back into the game. Following periods of sustained pressure Roses finally got a way back into the game with Corbett finding a way past the North Shields keeper. With increasing pressure on the North Shields goal, Roses finally got back to level terms with Pinder doing well to steer the ball home. However North Shields nearly struck back getting the ball into the goal only to have it overturned by the umpires, much to Roses relief. Roses fifth goal came in the last five minutes of the game with Nick White smashing the ball into the roof from an acute angle to give Roses back the lead. More solid defending and a quick break away led to a penalty corner on the final whistle. This resulted in a penalty stroke which was calmly dispatched by Tom White to make the final score Roses 6-4 North shields
