Match Report: Ladies 1s v. Blueharts
Posted by Paul Hamnett
The ladies 1’s travelled to Blueharts (Hitchin) after an extended break with the previous outing for the team being the end of November.
The conditions were wet and cold but we started well and created early chances but no outcome. As the first half progressed Blueharts came more into the game but neither side created much apart from a short corner apiece.
In the second half the game opened up and both sides created chances. Both Goalkeepers made good saves and especially one from Becky Hamnett who took one on the grill of her helmet.
As the half progressed Lindum found it easier to open up the Blueharts’ defence and with two minutes to go Maxine Clarke battled into the D to win a short corner. A slick drag out from Bev Steel to Vic ‘thread it through the eye of a needle’ Poole who found the bottom left corner with a sweet strike.
There was just enough time for the pushback to resume the game and then the full time whistle was blown.
A good, gritty performance with positives to move forward with. It was nice to not be on the receiving end of a last minute goal.
Girlie of the Game: Vic Poole (Goal and Strong Defence)
D of the Day: Libby (Helpful Directions and Comedy Falls)
