Upcoming Events in Lincoln
Posted by Lindum Hockey Club
In the next few weeks, there are a number of events in Lincoln that could impact on hockey fixtures, due to a number of road closures.
The first event, taking place from 14th to 17th October, is the HSBC UK National Road Chamionships. On Saturday 16th October, the changing facilities at Yarborough Leisure Centre will not be available to Lindum HC and any travelling teams, therefore please head back to the Lindum Sports Association for changing facilities there. The ASDA Foundation City of Lincoln 10K then follows on Sunday 31 October.
National Road Championships – Cycling
From the 14th to the 17th of October, Lincoln will be welcoming the HSBC UK National Road Championships.
Fresh from equalling Eddy Merckx’s record for the most Tour de France stage victories this summer, Mark Cavendish will once again ride for the coveted national champion’s jersey. Cavendish won the road race at the 2013 championships and finished second behind Pete Kennaugh on the event’s last visit to Lincoln in 2015.
The road races conclude this year’s championships on Sunday 17 October, and the route will come as no surprise to British racing fans, following the route of the Rapha Lincoln Grand Prix. Taking in the iconic, cobbled Michaelgate climb once every eight miles, the men’s race will be contested over 166km (13 laps) and the women’s race over 101km (8 laps). The finish line on Castle Square is the once which has been used for every Rapha Lincoln Grand Prix for more than three decades.

ASDA Foundation City of Lincoln 10K
This 10k is one of the biggest and best-loved road runs in the region. With brilliant support all round the route, a great goody bag and a trendy T-Shirt, it’s no surprise that thousands rock up and run every year.
The course is flat and fast, perfect for seasoned runners chasing a PB. But fancy-dressed fundraisers and beginners looking for a fun and friendly first run will love it too. The beautifully scenic route takes in many of Lincoln’s historic landmarks, including the cathedral and the city’s Roman Walls.
The event opens at 7:00am, with a 10:00am start time on Sunday 31st October, and is expected to last until early afternoon. So please be aware if travelling into or out of Lincoln to take note of the below affected roads.
