The Big One The Big One

At 1:30pm on Saturday 2 April at the Lindum Sports Association, the Men’s 1st team face title rivals Ben Rhydding in the fight for promotion to National League, led by captain Rob Johnstone (pictured above).

It is difficult to understate how important this game is for both the Men’s 1s, and Lindum Hockey Club. If Lindum win, they will be crowned champions of the Yorkshire & North East Men’s Premier Division and would be promoted to Conference North in the National League for the 2022/23 season. Whilst this may be a historic title for Lindum HC, it is potentially a historic moment for hockey in Lincolnshire. There has never been a Lincolnshire club in National League, so this would be a first for the county.

We would like to invite as many spectators to join us in supporting the 1st team in their quest to be title winners. Entrance is, of course, free and the clubhouse bar will be fully stocked in anticipation of a large and rowdy crowd.

There is also the not-so-small matter of the battle between the Men’s 5s and 6s in YNE Wold Division 2. The 5s require a win to leapfrog the 6s for promotion, where the 6s only need to avoid defeat. So if you fancy an intraclub rivalry to warm the cockles before the main event, come on down for a 12pm start.

Remaining Fixtures:

Saturday 2 April: (1.30pm) Lindum vs Ben Rhydding

Saturday 9 April: (2pm) Brigg vs Lindum, (2.30pm) Ben Rhydding vs Sheffield University Bankers

Route to promotion

  • Lindum defeat Ben Rhydding (BR): Lindum win the title and are promoted to National League and partake in Conference North for 22/23
  • Lindum and BR share the spoils: A win at Brigg seals the title, a draw would only be enough if BR fail to win against Sheffield University Bankers
  • BR defeat Lindum: Lindum must beat Brigg with BR failing to win at SUB
