A week last Sunday saw Lincoln Under 14s maintaining their position in leading the Lincolnshire Under 14 League in Division 1. Five out of five wins for the A Team in beating Spalding Lions 3-0, Alford 2-1, Bourne Deeping A 3-0, Long Sutton A 2-0 and, finally with their best performance, Spalding Tigers 4-0. They played some captivating hockey at times, reinforcing the strong standard and level of coaching received at Lincoln’s Junior Training on Saturday mornings at The Lindum Sports Club. Captained by Louie Sadler, the A Squad also including Libby Thorne, Kate Andrews, Kate Fitzpatrick, Charlotte Simpson, Tom Rounsley (GK), Angus Graham and Sam Gilbert, were too strong for the four other club teams on the day. Their main rivals, Long Sutton A, were down to 6 players after four minutes following an horrendous tackle on Libby Thorne which culminated in a yellow card and five minutes suspension from the game for Sutton’s young centre forward. Lincoln were already 1-0 up and the frustrations of the youngster following some excellent man to man marking by Libby, made the rash youngster see red! Lincoln seized the initiative and scored a second to make the game secure.Lincoln Hockey Club

The B squad started steadily against Sleaford in Division 2 but ended up losing 0-1. They then put two good performances together in beating Bourne Deeping B 2-1 and Horncastle 1-0, but were comprehensively beaten by Louth 0-3 and Long Sutton B 0-2. However, this was a marked improvement and this team of inexperienced players is learning fast. Captained by Rose Thomas, the team also included Eve Wilson, Amber Jenkins, Cameron Smith (GK), Orissa Sansoa-Twell, Poppy Buckley, Gemma Barnsdale and Abbie Willgoose. With a little more stronger match practice this team will only get better.

Well done everyone and thank you to Peter Rushmere and Clive Sadler for umpiring, and Caz May for managing the B Team, and assisting Tony Perrin in running the two sides.
