Under 14 Hockey at Long Sutton
Wins by the A team against both Spalding teams, Sleaford Foxes and Alford, with a draw against Long Sutton, maintained their top spot in their league and favourites to carry off the the title again on 22nd March at The Lindum….home advantage? Although not playing their best hockey due to the cold conditions and missing plenty of “open goals”, they still showed that they are the team for others to emulate in future matches. Captained by Louie Sadler, the team of Libby Thorne, Tom Rounsley (GK), Kate Andrews, Kate Fitzpatrick, Angus Graham and Sam Gilbert dominated most of their games missing some sitters due to cold hands.
The B team were a fantastic success, and following the very early injury to captain Charlotte Simpson, rallied their forces together, with young 10 year old Scott Taylor joining the team, and played out of their skins, registering four wins, a draw and a loss in their six matches. This is a team that has greatly improved with the addition of Matthew Taylor too. Abbie Willgoose, Gemma Barnsdale, Orissa Sansoa-Twell, Cameron Smith (GK) and Poppy Buckley made up the team and despite the cold conditions, played some of the best B team hockey this season. I am fairly sure you are promoted to Division One for 22nd March finals.
Well done all of you.
Also:
I have also received this email message from Gill Simpson tonight re: Charlotte’s fractured cheekbone (one very brave young lady):
“Hi Tony
Thanks so much for your email
Charlotte is ok, quite a bruise and needs to see the maxillofacial consultant tomorrow
Will keep you posted but she won’t be down for long!
Regards
Gill”
Thanks again to Caz and Clive, Jason and Clare for assisting and all you parents for your undying support to the teams
Best wishes
Tony P
