The weather forecast for this weekend is looking a little damp, with Storm Dennis on the horizon and potentially threatening this weekend’s hockey

Storm Ciara, last weekend, prevented the Veterans’ Team travelling to Huddersfield for their England Hockey Over 40s game and this weekend we have the prospect of a sequel in Storm Dennis. A weather warning has been released that kicks in at 10am on Saturday and covers the rest of the weekend, with strong winds expected and the potential to disrupt travel.

Despite the half-term slip date being this weekend, for Yorkshire Hockey competitions, most teams are playing as the cancelled fixtures from the weekend of November the 30th, 2019, were moved en mass to this Saturday. Only the Mens 4s are without a game this weekend, while there is a Mixed Cup Game on Sunday.

Changes To The Weekend

The club has a plan in place and will monitor the situation as it develops. Should any planned fixtures or sessions change then we’ll post the news here and report out on our social media channels (Facebook, Twitter and mobile push notifications). Captains will also be informed as soon as possible.

From a travelling perspective we need to consider not just our own travel plans but those of our opposition and whether that risk outweighs the need to get the game played.

For any opposition teams, our Fixtures / Match Day Team will be in touch as soon as any decisions are made.

Junior Hockey Training

The times of Junior Training, on Saturday morning, were changed earlier in the week in preparation for the bad weather.

Junior Training has since been cancelled.

Ladies 1st Team

The Ladies 1st Team game, away in Kendal, has been postponed and won’t be played this weekend.

Ladies 2nd Team Team

The Ladies 2s were setting off at 9am to travel to Ben Rhydding. This game is now off.

Ladies 3rd Team

The Ladies 3s were due to play Wakefield, away. This game is now off.

The Ladies 4s game is still on (correction to earlier announcement)

Ladies 5th Team

This game was due to be played at the Lindum at4:30pm against Hull University. Now postponed.

Mens 1st Team

The Mens 1s were due to play Oxton 1 at the Lindum Sports Association at 1:30pm.
This fixture will now not be played this weekend.

Mens 2nd Team

The Mens 2s were due to play Leeds Adel 2, away. This game is now off.

Development Team

The game against Chesterfield is now off.

Sunday the 16th of February

The Mixed Team game, against Long Sutton in the England Hockey competition, and the Veterans’ Team game against Huddersfield are both on.
