Two great results for Lindum Hockey Club today have rounded up a winning weekend for Lindum Hockey Club

On the back of yesterday’s brilliant Ladies 4th Team performance, winning the Yorkshire Division 5 Cup in Halifax, the weekend has continued to deliver success for Lindum Hockey Club’s teams. The Mixed Team, under the stewardship of Sean O’Kelly, were in action this afternoon – as were the Ladies 1s in their crucial “Yorkshire Hockey Playoff” in Doncaster.

Mixed Team

The Mixed Team played Wisbech Town this afternoon away at Wisbech’s home pitch in the fourth round of the England Hockey Mixed Plate. The team were in the last 16 teams in the competition.

The first goal arrived seven minutes into the game and although Wisbech equalised within five minutes, the Lindum side kept on the pressure to retake the lead and not look back.

Goals from Ben Treadgold, Rob Johnstone (x 2) and George Johnstone saw a 4-2 to the away side, taking Lindum HC’s Mixed Side into the Quarter Finals of the competition.

Ladies 1st Team

In an event that’s been in the planning since the formation of the club two years ago, the Ladies 1s went into their game today looking to earn themselves a shot at a representative placing within Yorkshire Hockey Association’s league structure. The league playoff was against Leeds Adel 2 in Doncaster, the game commencing half an hour after the Mixed Team’s start in Wisbech.

At half time the score was a thrilling 1-0 to the advantage of the Lindum side, courtesy of a goal from Captain Maxine Clarke. Despite holding onto most of the possession, shots on goal were limited. Despite Leeds Adel also finding the back of the net, it was further goals from Breesha Foxton and Sibyl Gassner that brought in a 3-1 win.

This weekend’s winning weekend for Lindum Hockey Club lines up some great things to celebrate at the club’s forthcoming End of Season Presentation Day on May the 6th.
