Gold Medal Success in the European Championships
Sunday, 3rd of September 2017
Kevin White has returned to Lincoln with a gold medal following a successful campaign for England Over 60s in the 2017 WGMA Euro Masters Cup, which took place in Glasgow last week.
They opened the tournament with a 12-0 victory over France and followed this result up with an unbeaten pool stage, with a 3-0 defeat of Ireland, 2-1 win over Spain and a 6-1 success over Belgium.
The men in red then faced Germany in the first semi-final, overcoming them 3-0.
This set up a final with the Netherlands. Maarten van Rijn opened the scoring for the Dutch at the beginning of the 2nd quarter. But a Mark Precious penalty corner resulted in the equaliser for England. The scores remained level until full-time, with England scoring their first 3 chances in the shoot-out and Netherlands missing theirs.
The club are extremely proud of Kev and his achievements, and look forward to future successes over the coming months and years.
