Ladies 1st Team are North Hockey Division 2 (SE) Champions
The Ladies 1st Team have secured top spot in the North Hockey Division 2 (South East) table, making them Division Champions
Following their result today, against Slazengers 1st Team at the Slazengers Sports Centre near Wakefield, the Ladies 1st Team have secured their position at the very top of the table for the North Hockey Division 2 (South East) table.
Entering Yorkshire / North Hockey
At the end of the 2017 hockey season, the Ladies 1st team won a playoff to enter the Yorkshire / North hockey structure, having moved away from the Midlands, in a legacy from before Lindum Hockey Club’s formation. This win saw the team placed in Division 2 (South East) of the North Hockey League structure where, during the 2017 / 2018 season, they found their footing at this level and finished in fourth place behind Boston Spa 1, Halifax 1 and Doncaster 2.
This season, the team – under the captaincy of Maxine Clarke and the management of Mark Sadler – have put in a concerted aim to gain promotion into Division 1 and that’s exactly what they’ve achieved. This is made all the more remarkable with a game of the season remaining.

Team Quotes
Maxine Clarke, 1st Team Captain, said
Everyone’s worked so hard for this, I’m really proud of the team and what we’ve achieved.
A massive thanks to Sads and Belly for what they’ve invested in the team this year.
Mark Sadler, 1st Team Manager, added
It has been an absolute pleasure to be part of the journey that has led our Ladies 1st XI to become champions of North league Div 2 South. Through continued hard work, dedication and superb fitness levels, they have dealt with the loss of several players through injury to maintain a consistently high level of hockey throughout the season, achieve the success that they deserve, and have firmly put Lindum on the map of North women’s Hockey.
A huge thank you to our supporters that have travelled to watch and provide valuable support, our regular team bus driver Andy Thorne, and Matt Bell for great coaching.
Well done to all involved in a great achievement. UTL
This is a huge accomplishment for the entire squad, and the whole club is very happy to see them hit the top spot. On the back of the Mens 1st Team’s promotion to the North Hockey Premier Division last season, and their win yesterday against Didsbury ensuring that they stay up, we’ve had a great couple of years to celebrate our top-level hockey, and show that we’re on the move in the right direction.
The Ladies 1s play Thirsk, at the Lindum Sports Association, on the 16th of March at 12 noon.
